What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a human condition involving focused attention, a reduction in peripheral awareness and an enhanced capacity to respond to suggestion. The Brain communicates with itself through brain waves, two of the main patterns are the Alpha and Beta wave patterns. Alpha wave is your logical thought and the Beta is your emotional mind. When you relax the logical mind activity reduces and the emotional becomes accessible. Hypnosis is the act of relaxing to activate the emotional mind.

Hypnotherapy is the use of hypnosis to open the sub-conscious mind (emotional mind) to offer up therapeutic suggestions that allows the client to address supressed issues or control habits.

Hypnotherapy can be used to help you gain control over undesired behaviours or to help you cope better with anxiety or pain. It's important to know that although you're more open to suggestion during hypnosis, you don't lose control over your behaviour

 

What does it feel like?

When you're under hypnosis, you usually feel calm and relaxed. You can continue talking moving and you are in control of all of your actions.

Can I be hypnotised?

We all go into hypnosis or trance every day on our own, we call it day dreaming. When you watch a film, logically you know it is a story with actors, no one dies it’s not real. So when there is a sad ending why do we cry? It’s because we watch a film in a relaxed trance like state.

 

What is an Anxiety Disorder?

Anxiety is normal, it is our natural fight or flight response to danger. An anxiety disorder is when your anxiety adversely interferes with your normal daily life.  Symptoms include worry, fast heart rate, fatigue, Irritability, Tense, panic attacks, avoiding social situations and irrational fears.

Hypnotherapy is an effective way of understanding and dealing with the emotional sub-conscious mind in terms of repressed memories, instilling desires and help relax an anxious mind.
